The immersive movie
Images and the Worlds of Being directed by Kirsi Nevanti and scored by Christine premiered on April 24th 2019 in Stockholm
In an immersive VR-experience the visitor steps into a room where the film is projected on four screens surrounding the viewer; the film is not in front of you, it surrounds you.
The movie is a VR experience where you're actually immersed in watching 72 minutes of film spread on 4 different screens in 18 minutes. Images and the Worlds of Being builds on the artistic, practice based doctoral dissertation "In Real Life (Or Elsewhere)" - About parallel realities and creative processes in documentaries by Kirsi Nevanti. The documentary is filmed on locations all over the world: from Yamagata in Japan, to Tijuana in Mexico, to the border districts in Möhkö in Eastern Finland. In an immersive VR-experience the visitor steps into a room where the film is projected on four screens surrounding the viewer; the film is not in front of you, it surrounds you. The visitor is immersed in images which paired with Christine Hals music and sound mix signed by Jan Alvermark sends you into a contemplative state far, far away from the physical reality.

I had to work mathematically and experiment a lot back and forth with the orchestra to make the music fit with the images and Kirsi’s strong vision. We stretched the music in time which I believe fits perfectly with the idea of “parallel realities and creativity” which is the foundation Kirsi built this project on.
